I will add this video from today 27th April, just because of the crazy odds metal detector guy after just posting about it & buying one before

Ok, so here is the LTI Ultralyte that ive bought. I really need to actually test one out or i will be talking about something i havent actually used thus for me to even speculate about these devices, i really need to have actually used one. I hope i can claim the money back afterwards! I tried to get exemption from customs by saying it is for the petition, but it seems like they havent let me. (even though my stickers were truly documents/notices and i shouldnt have been charged for those either! so i might actually prosecute customs at a later date if I can! This was the cheapest one i could find.. its the 100 pulses per second model, not the 125 pulses per second one. Still a 2nd hand, used device! I dont think it would sell for much more in the uk at all. in fact the import charge on it is not only a rip off but pointless! but these doesnt seem to be an £8 handling fee this time! I have had parcels from the USA and OZ that have had no charge at all! it all depends how the sender sends it if they help you out. its not exactly like a Diamond ring you are going to sell & make money out of palmed across as a "gift" this is the actual value of the thing! An extra £48.51 what is HM Government doing with all this money?! that we are in minus trillions with? I shouldnr even be having to buy this! i have to to prove the aim tricks and laser size. It says clearance fee £13.50 has that replaced the £8 Royal mail handling fee?! We really need to do something about Revenue & Customs when people are just buying things for use & purpose like this, not to make money or for buisness or value of item. It IS for the petition to get evidence for signatures i should not be able to be fined through legislation if i refuse to pay. They are supposed to give you the item then collect afterwards. they do that with things with DHL. then they wouldnt be able to take me to court if i refused to pay the charge. but parcel force are sneaky and will not hand it over until you have paid. Why do DHL deliver and then you pay the customs afterwards?

Another point on obtaining the video evidence...
Why send out a police officer with a video recording device if you are only going to use a photograph?
Why not just send out a guy with a SLR camera?
Who takes a photo of you speeding?
I have covered the subject of obtaining video evidence a few times already in various threads.
Unless I have read the wrong legislation, it says the prosecution must give part of the evidence over to the defense. And I don't think that was the unused evidence either.
In a driving offense case from a mobile camera there are not multiple exhibits. There is only one piece of evidence - the LTI video.
The police remove a single frame of video from the evidence clip and use this as a photograph to assist driver identification.
The photograph does not prove vehicle speed. Although 2 photographs could be evidence for vehicle speed, but you would require the verification road markings to be present.
The LIT lasers are not home office approval passed for single photograph evidence of vehicle speed. Only for the full video.
Photos can be used for other offenses, but not speed or motion. The Fixed speed cameras are set up for photography, not video.
So there is only one exhibit for vehicle speed. The video.
Changing or modification, editing, reduction or removal of frames from the video motion laser speed record is tampering with evidence.
And as it is not a case involving multiple evidence exhibits, the one video exhibit must be given over (that is if I have read the legislation on evidence correctly) but I will double check to make certain I didn't get that mixed up with the unused evidence.
Also, how can a video clip be "used evidence" when a magistrates never sees it and its not even taken into court? Only a video verification person watches it and gives statement. And that is only if you are going to turn up & challenge it! So really in truth. Of the presentation of the case, you are back to the same scenario of simply a hand held non recording device such as a LTI Ultralyte where the offense I'd just written down by the officer.
So what is the point in using a video device if no-one watches the videos?
What are the public tax payer buying the police all this equipment for traffic enforcement and road safety for? When the police refuse to give the public their own speeding videos for defense?

So.. i got the Ultralyte! and some batteries as well! first tests with the distance measure function are not consistent or greatly accurate, as like the other you tube guys experiments!
I found that you cannot see the light with the human eye, but a simple phone camera can see it directly, but not reflected.
You can only see the pulses if you move the camera around because at 100pulses per second the video only records at 25-35 or so frames per second! I will still need to figure out if it is possible to see it on a target!
LTI PULSES! LOooOok! 100pps! Ultralyte Teletraffic:
Also i have sat the 1mw laser pen on the device and it doesnt seem like the red dot LTI target in the viewfinder is very central either! so aim may not be very accurate!

So, the 1mw laser pointer does not appear to effect the signal of the LTI Ultralyte at all. Neither shining it into the device or where the device is aimed at.
So I should be able to mount the laser pointer on the Ultralyte as a target guide so we know where it is being aimed exactly and we can test some targets for edge and distance detection parameters.
Oh, and also I can now give an opinion about the motion detector/error function.
Thr device does give an error signal if you move it while you are taking a reading.
BUT, if you are very careful, and steady and use a slow, smooth gentle technique you CAN MOVE the device ENOUGH, in fact exactly the ammount required by co-incidence approximately to get a nice target shift stroke that can do the Roof or bonnnet or under vehicle trick that can get a change in distance during the reading from extra distanced parts of target area.
I will explore this further. But the distances it obtains with measure mode are not that accurate anyway!
But you can get a feel for the device and how much you can move it and the correct dexterity needed, quite easily and intuitively.
Obviously I've only tested it out inside, and haven't actually measured a speed yet!

I was thinking that it must be near impossible to record at 100fps, the same rate as the actual LTI laser pulses. Should the LTI camera equipment record at that frame rate? does it? Here another teardown by Dexters Lab! kinda ruined it for me... its a bit like when you first see "Weebl himself" after the Badger mushroom series. I did actually ask Dexters Lab if he is going to get some inductive loop wire and temporary traffic lights to set up the traffipax camera properly for full test

I have to say that I've watched quite a few LTI Ultralyte videos on YouTube and the people seem to be having a much more difficult time getting readings on vehicles with their devices than I am with this device from Cairns.

Today 06 May! re-posted over from Hello & welcome thread..
I question a speed camera operator about the deviced giving inconsistent readings from the same vehicle, going at the same speed aimed in the same place on the vehicle & his reply was...
He did not wish to comment further nor say if he has been getting the same effect as well with his own readings.

So this came up in a Google search a motorcycle rider was found not guilty by a court because the laser target was not held center on the target! An Actual case which was won! And after using an Ultralyte myself, the aim doesn't really matter too much because the speed can be wrong anyway. And this motorcycle rider was a few mph faster than my Haslingden speed which was claimed to be 61mph www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=996547

The "concept" is compatible with most all illegally signed uk road networks, entrapment sites and legal framework!? It needs to be noted that the very physical design of the device has psychology crafted into it that communicates things about aspects of usage of the equipment...such as a tendancy for higher speed from the front of a vehicle compared to from the rear..... You will see one side is designed short and square, the other screen side is long like a bonnet. Not place under or over the LTI. Also a bent black bar over the top. This could symbolize the crooked legal system. Teletraffic uk and manufacturers could consciously or subconciously have added these features with intent to communicate things to the user where they want the device to be used correctly. OR the steel bar could symbolize that the equipment is "solid" and stands up to legal challenges!? But here we are delving into the psychology of sculpture and ex police minds. Except for the fact it is an criminal offence to use a device which would cause a driver to be recorded as contravine a traffic regulation order, when in fact they did not. :/ (if it can be proved) Have you typed LTI concept into eBay uk and worldwide searches? Just looking for a 2nd hand unit! I think my LTI Ultralyte might not be compatible with the concept!? LTI UltraLyte 1000 or Pro Laser III it says, so you might be able to use a cable for mine. But it doesn't have seperate power and data socket Spec www.teletrafficuk.com/products/speed-enforcements/concept/
