The offence for being on a motorway or stopping on a motorway has its OWN specific codes and are NON ENDORSABLE offences. So you can not get points for them & they do NOT fall into the cross catergory undefined offences. When I was in Huddersfield magistrates, the Pratt Crown Prosecutor and legal advisor were using "fancy show off language" between eachother to hint at i should be given points and be disqualified. Probably a set up by the Cps & police, as he (prosecutor) used the term "WE" in his referances to what the CPS had been upto.. "WE" think this is in the "2nd BAND" catergory" (which is above a fine and how i got tagged" When that offence was only £30 fine! AND I TOLD THE LEGAL ADVISOR thew charges are illegal & i am protected by law & have additional exemptions, as well as that being on the grass is not the road... & she said "Oh, I was not aware of that" WHAT ARE THESE PROFESSIONALS AWARE OF?! The Magistrates could have given minimum sentancing, but they would not even accept the legislation I read out & it doesnt matter if you have already been convicted, because fact of law IS THAT CONVICTION & PROSECUTION ARE NOT POSSIBLE! Its the same, same same with these people every time.. the SAME EXCUSES, every department And the truth is this.... 1. THEY ARE RETARDED AND STUPID 2. Joining the motorway
When you join the motorway you will normally approach it from a road on the left (a slip-road) or from an adjoining motorway. You should:
give priority to traffic already on the motorway
check the traffic on the motorway and match your speed to fit safely into the traffic flow in the left-hand lane
not cross solid white lines that separate lanes or use the hard shoulder
stay on the slip-road if it continues as an extra lane on the motorway

Hard shoulder
You MUST NOT use the hard shoulder for overtaking.
In areas where an Active Traffic Management (ATM) scheme is in force, the hard shoulder may be used as a running lane. You will know when you can use this because a speed limit sign will be shown above all open lanes, including the hard shoulder.
A red cross or blank sign above the hard shoulder means that you MUST NOT drive on the hard shoulder except in an emergency or breakdown. Emergency refuge areas have also been built into these areas for use in cases of emergency or breakdown.
Hard shoulder bus lanes. On some stretches of motorway, hard shoulders are used as bus lanes during specified times of the day.
The operation of these bus lanes is controlled using variable message signing. In the event of an emergency or incident the bus lane reverts to being a hard shoulder.
You MUST NOT use the bus lane for any purpose other than an emergency or breakdown.
