I find a shiny metal sign with cut out shapes that are smaller then the LTI beam spread, and get speed readings from vehicles through the shapes!

I Have to do a delivery on Saturday to Spilsby, Lincolnshire. I pass an Air show! and manage to get some distance readings from Bi-planes & vintage aircraft with the LTI Ultralyte 100, but it is difficult! No speed readings though! I got 5 readings! one was 242.5 meters. another was 139.9 meters. Than a 472.8 meters, a 439.5 meters and an 390.4 meter distance reading! really stoked with those! Then I went to a sliver "cut out" street furnature that I had seen the day before nearby and got some speed readings "THROUGH" the cut out shapes! even though it is silver reflective! I also got a Seabass & Chips! yum!

This FLIR company sell all kinds of thermal imagery and infra red devices, including mobile phone add ons. Various prices. See eBay as well. www.flir.co.uk/store/You get a disk and cable with the devices and carry case like the LTI! Prices vary from a couple hundred, to 800 and 5,000 pounds! I'm trying to find out if its only heat or if it can see the infra red light sources as well.

Ok, so I've been doing experiments with the TT test mode on the LTI.
The number plate does seem to give a stronger signal. But the device does not appear to select it out from other targets that are black, dull or not as bright.
It simply seems to know when a surface is brighter or not.
This sound doesn't seem to distinguish between distance in the same mode.
Or else, it does DO target picking for distance of say a wood telegraph pole. But when you start to mix in different surface colours and types, it either confuses the device...OR it doesn't want to give you too much information...
Is "distance" included in the TT test mode ? Or solely on "brightness"?
It knows when on/off the registration plate. But it also knows when on/off a tyre!
AND these parameters do NOT seem to prevent it taking a reading from what you are aiming at, if you are measuring a dull black matt object directly in front of a reflective number plate.
Also, at night, using the laser pen, to the human sight a registration plate does stand out from other car parts at 200 meters.. BUT so does say. A reflective jacket on the car seat.
AND of a lorry Is behind the car, further away.. and you aimed to the side of the reg plate of the target vehicle at 200m, then the entire surface of the lorrys high vis edge stickers over the entire vehicle behind target light up!!
I still do not think this has any help for finding the hot spot stronger edge.
But it means that the surrounding light bring reflected is being ignored or not used.
So either a night vision or thermal camera would be needed to see that.
I will try the "stairs" experiments with high vis included...to see if I can get a + reading from the stairs while 2 people walk away either side with high vis jackets. If it still gets the stairs, then that will mean the number plate can be ignored, if say the tyres, road, bonnet or window is centre target.

Here is the "Seek" thermal device phone app add on. I wonder if there is software that can filter the concept or ranger video footage and detect the LTI laser beam!?

Black fabric floor matt lights up well in contrast to registration plate. White and also metallic vehicles reflect as much as reg & American cars do not even have reflective number plates for LTI.

4mph JUST AIMING STRAIGHT! no Drag or slip!!! Car bonnet angled box shape! It only would do it at a certain angle, though I got speeds! and 4mph twice! you dont really need to move it, just get it at the right place! and minus, not plus!
Also, later on There was a car with a nice shaped bonnett, black car. it went past, then came back! I tried the bonnet when it was stopped still. the Gun switches to Distance mode by itself! it displays the letters DI for distance, but it looks like DIE!? especially coming from the bonnet of a sports car! I wonder if the car was "further away" and moving faster... over 30mph if, like the 23 meters minimum speed range, there is a certain range and speed where the programming switches it to accept the algorythms for the bonnet curve and even do it like the test block at the skate park?! but +4 instead of minus 4!? and at more angles!?

They call the rest attachment on the LTI a Yoke. Not egg yolk. Yoke! It's the word for this... See any significance?
