MISUSE OF SPEED LASER. OVERSIZED SIGNS INCORRECT SIZES. MISLEADING LIMITS TO CONFUSE THE DRIVER THAT ARE INCONSISTENT. TRICK PLACEMENT OF SIGNS & POSTS TO EFFECT JUDGMENT OF DRIVER.


This is a site outside a car sales showroom called "Drivers" of Prestatyn. Its a spot perfect for catching out the buisy stream of tourists that visit North Wales Every year. And there are quite a few little sneaky tricks the police & council have "set out" in their play area to mislead and confuse.

I didnt check the SIZE of the road signs before, which should have been obvious to me... but rather than being "too small" these ones are BIGGER THAN the prescribed size, which is reserved for HIGHER SPEED LIMITS & FASTER DRIVING. thus gives out the signal that the speed limit is higher than you would expect.

This is the photo from the prosecution (still not had the video provided yet as required) My dad went on the speed awareness course though.

I have discussed this in other threads, but recently found out that the LASER aim is right up over the ROOF, so there are issues that need looking at with the actual video footage. Also the location looks completely different profile place to when you see it in the videos.


(NOTE: I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THE CROSSHAIR CAN BE MOVED ON-SCREEN! BUT QUESTION HOW THAT CHANGES THE FIXED VIEWFINSER AIM ON THE FIXED MOUNTING? )


I think he might actuallybe "past" the electronic sign here. But 40mph isnt that fast on this road & the crosshair is over the roof.. So my Hunch is that the true speed was more like 35Mph


You can also see that the National speed limit sign IS quite big in the background.. It measures 85cm diameter, (850mm) and there is no road sign of that size prescribed. In fact it is INCORRECT for BOTH directions & approach speeds. You can use a slightly larger sign on ONE side.. if it is to help match sign sizes. But in this instance BOTH are wrong & that size isNOT ADEQUATE OR CORRECT for EITHER direction.

I was talking to a guy in the Drivers of Prestatyn Yard & He was surprised I was asking him in what exact position does the police Camera van Park? Because he had had SOMEONE ELSE ask him the SAME QUESTION! TODAY AS WELL!? what are the chances of that even?

There are quite a few things to note about this location in regards to the speed limit. & you can see the videos to get a better idea of what I am talking about..

But these are the basics...

The "Police" have a point to make that this is supposed to be a potential "unsafe" junction with another road.

Yet its 30mph speed limit.. and they have a SIMILAR place eastbound a few miles near IDENTICAL.. yet it is 40MPH... and I claim that it sets you up to think this one will be 40Mph as well...

Also.. where the 30Mph signs ARE PLACED..... about 30-40 meters afterwards there is an ELECTRONIC speed sign that LIGHTS UP if you are driving over 30mph to tell you to slow down.

1. Why have that AND a mobile speed camera here?
The ROAD BETWEEN the 30mph signs and the ELECTRONIC SIGN is where MOST people are switching to 30mph.. yet this is the SAME ROAD LENGTH where the Mobile camera van is "SHOOTING" drivers who are slowing down... and they do NOT give you the SAME TIME to slow as the ELECTRONIC SIGN does!

So is this intentional? I think so. Also the Electronic speed sign is not visible 100% at distance as there is a huge place name sign in front of it!

Both roads on approach really are the speed percentile for 40mph and from Prestatyn is reallly is tedius and quite noticable to have to "try" to keep under 30mph as the road is so wide!

Also if you want to use the Junction itself as an excuse for the police... think again! There are "SPEED CAMERA" signs on that road facing AWAY from the site! and not TOWARDS IT! another deception trick...

This entire little location is yet another example of these "speed traps" and the fact we are even using the term speed trap speaks for itself. Its not acceptable.

There are a couple more places in Wales that have similar ones.. for now I will add the videos which give a view of the site very different to any photo you might get through the post from the police (on request only?)

I say.. Where is the video? why dont the police want to put their cards on the table? there is obviously something wrong with the technique of the officer who took the footage.

A Look around by Drivers of Prestatyn to try find the location where the police speed camera vehicle was parked. The Garage staff said where it was but I couldnt see any tyre tracks there. There is a grass section and also the Cul-de-sac.




This nearby roundabout has a strange Blue sign that is identical to a "minimum speed" sign. and says 28Mph.
Also a POST badly damaged at the roundabout as well. Was it an intentional RAMMING of the post? I have seen quite a lot of intentional damage recently? could it reflect the public are not best pleased about the road signs? Or was it a ligitimate accident? With Fake horse boxes & all manner of dastardly tricks & traps.. the Police and media can not be trusted. (IMHO)

The strategy seems to be the same as most places... get roads of the same type people are familiar with at HOME and CHANGE the speed limit so its different to what they are used to, when they are in unfamiliar territory & they will be less likely to contest it or even go back there.

This location at Bethel, North Wales is so cliché that I dont even believe it has ever truly been used! They have the signs up.. but its SO obvious and kind of "too perfect" a location... that I wonder if its a decoy to distract from the actual places they use that are not as obvious?! there are a couple more places like this around the area.. But I havent seen the vans there ever. Only on the main roads. But you never know.. they might still use this location? They have trimmed the trees back though I think? It was kinda more trees, unless thats the other one?




And speaking of "obvious" what on earth is that red pick-up truck doing there? Not waiting for brunstrums Horse box?

Its not THAT long ago i arked there to get a look at the approch view towards on comming cars, what a couple of months ago only.... and the trees were still bushy and thick. Today it was just like this photo.. cut back. Never seen it like that before. The google maps says 2011? but the google photo looks just like it was today! unless its the other place by the post office one?

Any ideas?

No! Im wrong! Bontnewyd it is! very similar spot though! almost identical! not BENTNEWYD! lol.
There is a little shop near this one.. nice little post office but I think it closed down.. I did give them a load of free stickers, but I collected them the week after i think....



Hmmmm, Dont tell me both these places were purposely landscaped & sculptured for speed camera-ing?! does that count as "purpose built" entrapment? As yet I havent taken a proper look at the signs & distances... This may go as far as "SCULPTURED" entrapment?! HEY! why not just design the entire road shape & turns to catch people out?! Who the hell is this?! Watkins for hire?

Both sites have "BINS" there... but for who? just local use? what A co-incidence? 2 similar locations within 5 miles of each other! and to be honest... I thought there was only one! but they could easily be mixed up?! Both have bins?

New traffic lights, new signs, new deliberate mistakes...

Notorious A483 Wrexham bypass, bridge camera van favourite...

Where they have robbed us of the two legend roundabouts and put in terrible traffic lights..
Well today I have seen the MAIN terminal signs for the bypass are not the same size! And they are new! all new signs!

The police and council really are not ready to give up yet.



But there was a strange short 40mph limit set up today?! completely pointless! and in WELSH it said "lift" is it a joke about speed camera laser aim?! and FLOODS?!

Takes ages to turn around as well now without the roundabouts if you go wrong.
No one can measure these signs, as there is nowhere to stop, unless you are Highways, doing a petition, or police... Or be bothered to go get permission to measure the obvious incorrect size sign/s

i think they are just wasting signs now. plus tecnically thy are still in place.

This is that border trick where objects look bigger/smaller. it was on tv the other day.


Dont forget the illegal 300mm ones (national repeaters) dotted around this road and entrances as well.

In fact i am going to apply to get the video prosecution against me from here from several years ago if I can.. most likely contributed to one of my driving bans.
