Ok So, today we have encounted Manchester Police mobile speed safety camera vehicle reg: MX57 VFE.
A Silver van with 2 crew men. one in the back operating the lazer device and the other sat sunbathing in the front passenger seat with his shades on looking cool. (Its quite a small vehicle)
This is at approx 9:53 am. On 11 August 2015.
On A58 at Heywood, Rochdale road East.
I approach the vehicle from behind & continue past to check road signage. I see some has issues with it so decide it is worth gathering evidence & challenging the officers to question their sign checks. On my return I am driving at about 20-25 MPH and there is quite a train of vehicles behind me built up, like at least 30 cars, but I think they appreciated it after they saw I was pulling up behind the mobile camera van.
Here is my video on the way back to the Vehicles position. Note that there is a roundabout with no road signage on it and there should be bare minimum to help prevent confusion of different exit positions off the roundabout.
Approach to mobile speed camera position
I Stop to ask the Officers some questions before going to gather some photo's.
Interview with Officer / crew.
His main points seem to be this.... 1: If there is street lighting, the signs dont matter, you dont even need signs, not even terminal signs, or any maintenance of any signs at all.
2: He reckons that he is not responsible for performing road signage checks on any signs other than the "speed camera" signs. Yet some speed camera signs have a speed as well within the sign. Glyn Hollinshead of Thames Valley police has sent data that says road signs should be checked before & after enforcement sessions and I am convinced that it is to make certain the speed limit is enforcable. Not just the "speed camera signs" As apparently those are not even required? Or the visibility of them isnt because it is not something you can contest in court is it? Not that it should get to a court. The problem here seems to be WHAT THE CAMERA OFFICERS ARE BEING TAUGHT/TOLD. VS the actual truth, law & regulations. I suspect there is some "Black schooling" going on.
Anyway, the Officer I questioned WAS LYING, because I found a "speed camera" sign on a nearby side street & it was facing the wrong way, so it was IMPOSSIBLE for him to have checked that sign before that enforcement session. This is ANOTHER time the CREW have LIED, as in another thread I find a OFFICER lying about permission from a land owner to park across a private entrance.
I go to the first road with road sign issues which is Barley Hall Street by the "Fairfield Yarns" shop.
It is a 20mph zone with terminal signs on & off the main road. The signs are not aligned correctly and one is really set at an angle difficult to see properly.

This was a little sign inside the Fairfields Yarns shop, lol. I took a photo seeing as I had had a "train" of cars & trucks behind me approaching the mobile police van, all driving at my 20mph speed lol. About 30 cars?

This is the other road in the opposite direction, again with terminal signs onto the main road. We also see the "speed camera" sign, not checked or corrected & It was NOT mentioned to me when I questioned the officer, he said he had checked the signs.

This one is straight! But I did not have time to check the configurations! Remember the thread featuring a site at Monk Bretton, Barnsley where the configuration matters? See that thread for details.

This sign is NOT maintained to the required clean reflective finish for the purpose of use.

This is a sign that is claimed to have been checked, the nearby speed camera signs entering the location of enforcement.
Here are some other photos from the A58, not directly associated with that speed enforcement location, but where the vehicle might operate, or where other fines and penalties may apply to drivers, where the road signage has issues.

Terminal sign covered by foilage.

repeater speed sign (reminder) speed signs claimed not to be in check list.

Stopping/parking regulations faded to unacceptable.

Bent.

This was by Heap Brow, by the Crown Oil fuels & lubricants plant.

And of no significance to anything at all..... here are photo's today of...
The H-Team van!!!!!! & Cameron's house care home!

Plenty maintenance & repair work on the billboards! new paper every few weeks!

10 Downing street would get the regular maintenance treatment! and a spare officer to boot, for protection!
