Ok so here is evidence of illegal size road signage (classed in signs manual as an obstruction) in those "average" speed camera areas around Nottinghamshire. I didnt get the exact place noted of this, but i was on my way to Gainsborough kind of area from Worksop area, so it is just the top side of Nottinghamshire/South Yorkshire & Lincolnshire.     I will throw this one in here as well, seeing as I obtained a photo. Loads on this snake pass road that are insane height. This is not average speed cameras, this is a 50 sign on "Snake pass" between Manchester and Sheffield. It has never seen 900mm high or 1500mm. it is like less than 1ft from the ground!  Why, why why? You tell me!? why bother having specifications if they are not followed?  why have any law concerning it? Again, I state it is that so people in the know about it can get out of, or get other people out of being busted. While others have to pay the fine and get their licences stung, or pay £$£$£$ to get out of being endorsed, which is not possible in law anyways, and the signs should have been checked prior to any enforcement. It is just not safe. If the signage spec doesnt matter, why bother having laws or a manual? |

I see no 300mm 50 sign prescribed what so ever. But go check. You tell me.

Ok, so this is a 50mph sign from near Sherwood forest visitors centre area... It is the correct size 450mm. (not the 600mm which would be 2 sheets of a4 paper diameter) But still it is not maintained because the manual states that the signs should be kept clean to preserve their original intended luminousity and reflectiveness for night time.  |

It is enough to be a defence for speeding, more over you can not be convicted if the signs are not "MAINTAINED" which means it doesnt even matter if they are in place. If they are not maintained to manual requirements it is not maintained and is not effective to do the job it was designed to do.
This is besides the point with regular day to day... we are talking about officers who go to sites WITH SPECIFIC INTENT TO ENFORCE THE SPEED LIMIT AND PROSECUTE PEOPLE THROUGH TO CONVICTION.
And they are supposed to do road sign checks. Yet they are NOT DOING IT. They can not even be bothered to wipe the signs clean.
THERE ARE OFFICERS WHO POSE FOR ROAD SAFETY PHOTOS WITH CHILDREN. THESE ARE POLICE CHIEFS AND COUNCIL MAYORS WITH THE BIG GOLD CHAIN.
NOW.... DO THEY GIVE A MOTHER FUCK ABOUT ROAD SAFETY?
I TRULY BELIEVE THEY DONT GIVE A CRAP ABOUT THE SIGNS OR CARE OR THINK THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THEM!
