I was loving these Dr.Berg videos until he pulled out the Ben&Jerrys and plugged his new ice cream.
My ideas so far besides a decent soup drive through.. Have been some pretty decent meals..
You just do the diet without fats until youve lost your weight and then add fats in to make upto the daily energy requirements without raising insulin release.. Although in this video he is clearly suggesting more than 2 meals a day...
Spinach and mushroom curry is a great meal for diabetics.
Its a lot of food though to eat.
I like his Brie suggestion for when you ramp your eating back up again...
I think a tin of spinach like popeye with Mint sauce/cream and chilli sauce is perfect. You could look at adding coconut oil. Use the cream and oil to flavour it and adjust it to the calories you require.
Remember that 1 tin of spinach is a massive half of your daily nutrients minerals , vitamins and potassium. Even omega 3 and 6 oils!! And all 5 of your 5 a day in one go!!
A good breakfast would be 500g mushrooms, 1 egg and 50g Crispy bacon. Or 4 rashers fatty bacon. Yummy!!! No goose fat frying!! Lol.
For a nutritional drink/meal if you are only going to eat twice a day at the start..
Buy a ready made slimfast shake.
Crumble up 1 vitamin pill. 4 large potassium pills and add 1 scoop of jam rolly polly protein powder. Shake.
That should give you the other half of your daily requirements to either the Mushroom breakfast or the Spinach meal.
Unless you just want to eat a large bag of spinach all day like a bag of crisps or a bag of Kale??
Under 1000 calories a day (about 400 percmeal) is a good way to go if 500 calories a day is too less for you.
But apparently you can eat once a day and be perfectly healthy.
Also if you want one meal to BE a drink or nutrition shake... Ive been thinking.. Look at it as going to a bar and getting a cocktail. A "shot" like a brain hemorrage or flaming lambourgini.. Get creative with shakes.. You could even try coconut oil to add calories without releasing your insulin. The potassium is hard to get into the diet so pills could be crushed up.
I think the main thing that puts people off shakes is the cleaning of the blender and cups. If you get the slimfast ready made shake its blended nicely already and if you just add some extra scoops of protein in there and some potassium it will be quite easy to add and shake up in the existing bottle... I know its more expensive and a bit lazy.. But i dont know why they dont just do a shake with half the daily protein, potassium and vitamins and minerals in 50% and have it 500calories.. And then you only need to choose your other meal then.... Either a nice bacon, mushroom, egg meal or the creamy mint and chilli spinach!! Yum!!
Or if you have a kitchen to yourself and a blender and its easy to clean.. You probably already make these kale and sp8jach soups and shakes that the Doctor suggests.
I wonder if they can remove the carbs from the ben and jerrys ice cream??
I do think the "Soups Up" drive-thru would be awesome. But no idea why Americans dont have a Popeye drive through based on Spinach!!! Duh!!! I mean the logo and character are perfect for a Popeye drive thru!! Lol.
I personally am sad the Little Chef drive thru never happened with little Yorkshire pudding Roast Beef type gravy muffins. With a little lid on.. But mabe its too late for that.. As parsnip fries are probably as bad as chips!!!
