I would like every single car repair buisness by law to have to record ALL bumps, knocks and accidents that every single vehicle has had. Including all private and buisness premises, public as well.
So that a PROPER RECORD of STATISTICS of ALL DRIVERS IS COLLERATED TOGETHER AS MANY AS CAN BE REPORTED.
Bicycles as well. And all insurance claims.
This should be compared from all areas so that much better information can be gathered about road accidents.
I know there are general correlations of data, but I think that a properly run research project instead of a POLICE GUIDED AND BIASED SPEED ORIENTATED SYSTEM will bette identify root issues related to road safety and accident prevention, driver competence, accident frequency and risk.
We all know that younf males "boy racers and "grown man racers" are of interest to these types of survey, but accidents most often happen from a combination of factors, not only one single reason.
As for drug driving, I think the police have for too long been allowed to throw around & COIN the term "SPEEDING" as some loose and casual referance to the drug "SPEED". or Amphetamine and any connection that may have had to racing or stealing cars.
Alpha-Methyl-amine was given to soldiers during the first world war so we are told. This medicine actualy increaces awareness and at a stable dose (not a large one) would make a person have a higher awareness lever and faster thinking. NOT THE DESIRE TO DRIVE FAST. As that desire would be the inherent personality of an individual.
If Someone does not know to put their hazzard lights on if their car breaks down in the middle of the motorway, it will not make them more intelligent as to what to do. That already should be taught and learned.
It is in regards to general processing speed, as some people are a little slow responding. (others have a faster normal setting without this.)
I think it is called "cloudy" you can be cloudy but still know what other vehicles are doing and what is going on around you, reversing, ect... Other have the faster normal setting of thinking but can not anticipate what other drivers are going to do, are doing, or what they might do, or UNDERSTAND WHY they are doing it, thus not getting mad and BEEPING THE HORN JUST TO VENT PERSONAL ANGER (which is illegal use of the horn)
Back to the "SPEEDING" term.
There are a few reasons why drug driving is bad ans very dangerous. Firstly there is the "Panic attack" where any drug or even no drug at all the mind or body tricks itself into an adrenalin reaction situation of life or death/fight/flight. This can be extreme danger if any vehicles are involved because one might act or behave in an uncontrolled and dangerous manner putting themselves or the public at unessecary risk of immediate danger.
Also the opposite of this can happen if a drug slows or calms someone down too much, and an adrenalin reaction might BE needed, such as energy or fast reactions, which is why those type of drugs are dangerous when driving for the reason of too delayed or slow reactions when required.
That is why the social campaigns against drink driving have been a success over the years.
Because peoples driving standard and skill set is unique for every single person, everyone reacts differently to both alcohol and drugs.
Also everyones normal driving has a unique set of strength & weaknesses. One persons normal mindset might actually be the same NORMAL as another person who has taken a drug.
Because every single person is good at something others might not be.. for example... reversing (spacial awareness), thinking & reacting speed (minds processing speed), maturity (safety and consideration for others) or lack of it), Ability to better predict what others are doing, going to do & why (foresight and understanding) and many other factors... This is why there are many arguments or alternate views of what the road layouts should be and how you should drive.
For example, Ladies dont like kids & youths splashing around the swimming pool on a womens length swimming evening. And swimming traing days do not allow random people plodding about in the way on a training day.
The time tables use common sense to allow for different types of swimmers at different times.
Obviously on the roads we can not have a timetable because everyone has a different working schedule and timetable themselves.
But there may be a way with certain medicines to improve or adapt these different natural settings in people to help, with proper training their awareness and concentration, spacial awareness or insight.
Also when looking into the subject of accidents themselves the Government might be able to gain better insight into how accidents happen and are caused not just by one person but the true combination of factors that event to an accident.
Thus for example finding that a certain group have had a large number of very small unreported scrapes or dents and then discovering that those persons also contributed in an instance where a more serious accident occured, might reveal where driver courses and retraining might benefit more to road safety than just fines to persons who are driving fast at a time & place when no accident occured.
The reason I brought the drugs & medicine subject into this topic is because really every single person who is unique is ""A LITTLE BIT LIKE"" everyone being on different drugs, because different functions in their minds are a little bit better or a little bit worse or slower or faster than other persons.
Also attitude, experience, confidence and ability play key parts.
I am very against drug driving, but all kinds of medications have unknown side effects THOUGHOUT the mind and body, and really the doctors have no idea about slight specific side effects that thousands of drugs might have to perception, spacial awareness, exact processing speeds and other things so.. really... Yes we all need to be as safe and carefull as possible, But I also feel that when designing roads and throwing a shit loads money at re-doing roads that these mental skills need to be checked also.
For example a motorway DESIGNED FOR NATIONAL SPEED LIMIT, with signs TIMED & DISTANCED FOR MOTORWAY SPEED... then a new roadworks speed is put in place for 14 miles of roadworks.. the exit signs & all other signs are not spaced for 50mph psychological timing and thinking pace... Also you get BLOCKS OF HGV OBSTRUCTING SIGNS IN THE INSIDE LANE SO NO ONE CAN SEE THEM, and people may miss exits or have ACCIDENTS CHANGING LANES OR GETTING STUCK.
Which is why the HIGHWAYS AGENCY and NEW GRADUATE DEGREE ROAD TRAFFIC STUDENTS put the public at risk with this new UNCONTROLLED TREND of MILES & MILES & MILES of roadworks (with speed cameras) at 50mph that the ORIGINAL ROAD TRAFFIC ACTS WERE NOT DESIGNED TO ACCOMODATE.
Thus it is not just the thinking of drivers who is in question for penalty courses to have an ACHIEVED LICENCE TAKEN AWAY FROM THEM, but the supposed ACADEMIC DEGREE IN SUPPOSED INTELLIGENCE THAT MIGHT BE ALSO PUT IN QUESTION AS TO IF IT IS TRULY CORRECT, considering a HGV driver must pass a very difficult test to then go and gain experience on the roads before someone WITHOUT A HGV LICENCE comes along and places a 7.5tonna weight limit on a dual carriageway for no reason, with a camera next to it. Or something like that... or something like another toll road leading you somewhere for no reason other than funding more and more projects for projects sake
Anyway.. Quite a lot of different subjects all in there but the point is that more research into a wider variety of accidents and a better driver skills assessment possibly with driver strengths & weaknesses on their licence might help on a wider scale to improve the training & course assessments and the placing of new safety features that might be designed to HELP A WIDER VARIETY OF DRIVERS, such as better mirrors for blind corners, better warnings for crossings and even a course for drivers who are prone to anger. More specific focus on confidence, and even spatial awareness can be practised with courses like the "brain-gym" course for improving left & right hemisphere connectivity. Also attitude, not just when on a date with an instructor, but when out with friends and when alone, possibly feedback from other drivers and a "driver comments system, registed to every vehicle" all this could help a lot and improve attitudes to safety.
