The Road Signage was proved illegal through complaints to Shropshire council & the council acted to correct the signage. The Shropshire star newspaper also acted biased & refused to publish my witness appeal notices & Shropshire. (They control both newspapers in the county)

Road Traffic act 1972 Drivers to comply with Traffic directions 22.-(1)a Where a police constable is for the time being engaged in the regulation of traffic in a road, * * * a person driving or propelling a vehicle who - (a) neglects or refuses to * * * make it (the vehicle) proceed in, or keep to, a particular line of traffic when directed so to do by the police constable in the execution of his duty.
Here is the road site to inspect (signage since been removed as of October 2018
(1) For the purpose of securing that adequate guidance is given to drivers of motor vehicles as to whether any, and if so what, limit of speed is to be observed on any road, it shall be the duty of the [national authority] , in the case of a road for which the [national authority] is the traffic authority, to] erect and maintain . . . traffic signs in such positions as may be requisite for that purpose.
(4) Where no such system of street or carriageway lighting as is mentioned in section 82(1) is provided on a road, but a limit of speed is to be observed on the road, a person shall not be convicted of driving a motor vehicle on the road at a speed exceeding the limit unless the limit is indicated by means of such traffic signs as are mentioned in subsection (1) or subsection (2) above.
Road Traffic Act 1972 section 22. Drivers to comply with traffic directions.
(1)Where a constable is for the time being engaged in the regulation of traffic in a road, or where a traffic sign, being a sign of the prescribed size, colour and type, or of another character authorised by the Secretary of State under the provisions in that behalf of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1967, has been lawfully placed on or near a road, a person driving or propelling a vehicle who—
(b)fails to comply with the indication given by the sign,
Direction 11 of The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 (TSRGD 2002) defines the requirements for the placing of speed-limit repeater signs. This states that speed-limit repeater signs cannot be placed along a road on which there is carriageway lighting not more than 183 metres apart and which is subject to a 30 mph speed limit. The Department will not make exceptions to this rule.

Signs at the Church Stretton A49 Site between Sandford avenue & Swains Meadow were not lawfully placed on 25/08/18 & were an obstruction to driving, misleading drivers of the speed limit of the road & were of the previous old 40mph speed limit configuration. This caused drivers to contravene the speed limit for a number of years. It is suspected that Ian Connelly was supposed to survey the site. He had been there & placed a blue police sign at Sandford Avenue but failed to direct the Council authority to remove the old 30mph signs, yet in nearby Leintwardine he made a Hereford council remove similar signs for the same reasons I have raised in this matter. (30mph signs at junction of old speed limit should have been removed in order for speed limit to be enforceable)
Traffic Signs Manual Chapter 1 2018 as amended Page 13 3.4 Removing unlawful traffic signs 3.4.1. Traffic signs in use on the highway must either be prescribed by TSRGD as amended, or be specially authorised by the national authority. Signs that are neither prescribed nor authorised are obstructions on the highway and must be removed
1.17 Authorities are not free to use all the signs shown in this manual at will without further authorisation. They may do so generally with informatory signs and warning signs, but there are a large number of signs which first require an Order to be made and some signs cannot be used without specific site approval of the Secretary of State. Subsequent chapters of this manual state where an Order or other authority is required before the sign can be used.
1.18 The use on Public highways of non-prescribed signs which have not been authorised by, or on behalf of, the Secretary of State, is illegal and Authorities who so use unauthorised signs act beyond their powers. Additionally, an unauthorised sign in the highway is an obstruction. The possible consequences of erecting or permitting the erection of obstructions may be severe and those responsible could lay themselves open to a claim for damages; for example if the obstruction is the cause of accident or of injury in a collision or if the unauthorised sign injuriously affects a fronting property by blocking light or impairing visual amenity.
1.19 Authorities will normally erect their traffic signs within the highway boundary. If this is not possible, they can erect signs on or over land adjacent to the highway with the owners’ permission. They can also, if necessary, acquire land or rights over land either by agreement or compulsorily for the accommodation of signs
1.20 Authorities should consider requiring the removal of any object or device erected privately on land adjacent to their roads which has the apparent or express intention of guiding, warning or directing road users. In addition, private advertisements should not resemble or incorporate prescribed traffic signs or their symbols. United Kingdom signs are crown copyright and may not be reproduced without permission. In no circumstances will the Department permit the use of traffic signs on advertisements at road side locations. When prescribed traffic signs are used illegally action should be taken to secure their removal.
1.22 The Secretary of State has overriding powers to require the removal or to remove any traffic sign or any object or device for the guidance or direction of persons using roads.
I have been charged £900 in total fine and court expenses..
