Here we have "countdown signs at Elkesley on the A1 to warn you of a approaching 50mph speed limit. yet you are NOT alllowed these signs. My recent complaints got these removed. So they were an obstruction and not lawfull. Note that when you get to the actual terminal signs they are 1200mm, but then we get more pairs of repeater signs instead of the required pattern one side or alternating sides.  Here at Haslingden they put 2 900cm 50mph terminal signs, when they have to be 1200mm, because its from a Higher speed, National speed limit and even the whole mile of non present repeater signs only adds to the unlawfull situation (pre 2016 tsrgd) If you think there is an excuse to use 900cm.. there ISNT. because the LEFT sign deffinately has unlimted space and they could both easily be moved back a little for more room as the central reserve has plenty space  Here on the M621 Leeds, they use a LARGER sign in the central area!  when there is less space! From a National speed limit motorway.. to 50mph both should be 1200mm.. look how tiny the left one is! these could have been moved backwards or forwards to a better place.. and both should be 1200mm. The larger central one is a joke. Must not be 900mm  End of Varialbe speed limit M62 J25 Small central sign.. Yet quite a bit of space.. we see all manner of configurations from odd sizes, matching sizes to just one side and no matter what the landscape and space the Highways agency just seem to have a "Wily" insane decision making process to placing these.  |

Accidents on A644 no insurance on road as signs and markings have been unlawfull. i note multiple ambulance attendances over last 10 years but no speed reduction or enforcement.

National Speed Limit signs not turned on in lane3 at 08 39am Friday 21 July 2017 more strange behaviour with smart motorway signs, also making it difficult to film the status of each lane, but you can see lane 3 is not illuminated. also my statement.

Another example and discussion lecture to indicate the importance of seeing street lighting, especially if its going to be obstructed or hidden in trees.
The Police love to quote the law concerning the spacing & presence of street lighting for 30mph speed limit. But on the A616 Huddersfield, Woodhead road.. i found that the street lighting was hidden in trees and not very visible, especially on the section of road that looked a lot like it was a 40mph natural percentile.
