Look...
This is what a Modern District judge and legal advisors can't get their head around particularly court legal staff who have a degree and are jealous of regular citizenship have a better Natural affinity for law than they do, in basis and principle that is lawfully correct. Regardless of forms and mundane every day habituated process that they go through which are not restrictive to other actions that fit perfectly into the rules.
Such as contesting Jurisdiction.

This is a divorce form D8.
It's a legal proceedings. You don't need a Solicitor and you can apply online, just as you can apply online simply with a small claims court application (county court)
But it's called a Divorce petition.

WHY do we get a divorce from a frikking court?
We don't have Holy matrimony at court, do we? We get married in a frikking church. Before a vicar, priest... archbishop even.
Its Its legally binding though.
Have you wondered why you get divorced by a court?
This goes back to Henry VIII when the English Cardinal went to the pope to petition for a divorce for Henry VIII but was refused.
Look..
If you read Magna Carta.. Priests have Judicial rank and authority in order.. as do Judges.. knights do as well. They actually have authority to make orders..
How are you getting married by a priest? It's a legal order.
The Judge has legal authority to annul a marriage but he is not a priest.
In fact... if you got married by the Archbishop of Canterbury.. I actually challenge the fact of if you could even get divorced using that D8 form. The form doesn't say petition on it, but its Known as a petition for divorce.
You need to know what these things are.
This is where modern legal advisors can think for themselves with intelligence, insight, understanding.
They are literally like programmed robots.
If someone got married by the archbishop he is very high ranking the same as Lords ...
Therefore I doubt you could get divorced by a regular judge because your marriage would be comparable to a high court marriage, not a standard one.. or even a supreme court marriage..
I will have to check up on that..
But knights do have the power as far back as Magna carta to hear court cases in the absence of a justice. In fact it was the job of local preists to help with law enforcement as well as Justices.. way back in the middle ages.
There are certain things that are true which the modern law doesn't explain to us, but are still legitimate in legal effect and principles and basis of English law

What is a divorce petition?
A divorce petition, otherwise known as D8 form, marks the start of your divorce process. A divorce petition is a form that is filled out by one spouse (the petitioner) and is filed and sent to the other (the respondent).
The divorce process takes on average 18-22 weeks and can you apply online, without needing to hire a solicitor.
Who can file a divorce petition?
You can only file a divorce petition if you and your spouse have been married for at least 1 year, and you live in England or Wales or be domiciled in England or Wales if you live abroad.
To petition for divorce you need to have grounds for divorce, which are as follows:
Unreasonable Behaviour
Adultery
Desertion
2-year separation
5-year separation
If you are the petitioner and filing the divorce papers it’s important to know that you cannot file using your own adultery or unreasonable behaviour.
