WOW!
I have apparently won my argument with Customs over if i should have been charged for the shipment of my (personal belongings) from overseas to the UK!
As i have a Cheque arrived! my mum opened it today & i was waiting for the crunch line... and if to cringe or celebrate... and she said...
There's a Cheque for you, have you looked at it?
Wow....
So... i was then wondering how much, if they had calculated my entire back log of charges for Ebay purchases.. as theres no way i would have saved them all on my computer or the paperwork.. the Government should keep track of all your duty payments just like your other payments..
Anyway.. this is only for
£12.83 but it looks like i was right.. so fingers crossed.. the total of my entire history of Parcels may be upto or over £1,000 in charges! or more even!! ?
Who know's how many years it goes back as i have been online buying things for myself since some time after the year 2000
I feel like the guy in that old advert who says "one pound thiry eight" or something.
OK/......
So... The item i have been refunded for duty charge which i originally paid at my local post office collection office....
Was for a Pair of trainers.
Now those trainers were quite old, but hardly worn. They were made around 2000, and the sole has deteriorated away as the foam in it degrades. So they have lost their value.
Which i pointed out to Customs.
I put all arguments forward...
Firstly the trainers have degraded.
Secondly, i contested that i should not have had to even pay a charge in the first place as they were my personal effects/possession. Regardless of value
So i am not quite certain on which point/argument i have been refunded on. Or both.
The worrying thing is, that if im correct on the point that nobody should have had to pay import duty on their own things...
The problem is that because they were mislead and not properly informed.. and the customs form was limited and misleading / confusing... in regards to traders items, not private persons (traders being samples, gifts and commercial goods, documents)
Private people have been declaring their possessions at lower values to get them through as gifts or samples when they were not.
Thus.. they are actually "De-valuing" their own wealth & possessions.
Which would have been a crack line of glee for HM Gov, as on paperwork if they ever did have to pay them back, they would have been noted as being valued as a lot less.
A dastardly plan if i ever knew of one..
Possibly spurred by the Royal Pride and Rich boasting fearless show-off of money & wealth in the face of the poor.. when honest folks usually lie down their wealth as to keep the spirits status que...
Which the rich most likely look down upon.
And HM Gov would be in great glee at the fact people lying to Customs pleading they are worthless and their things are worth less to get them cleared of charges.... while auctioneers and rich people bid and raise value and cost of their fortunes in spite..
When in fact it has been Customs lying about it in the first place. Most likely justification in the "common people" being led to lie to justify the HM Gov lying and validate it.
Well.. we will see anyway.. just my hunch... seeing as all the road signs are wrong and illegal anyway..
BUT HM Gov likes to breed a bent culture. it the only way it knows. IMHO
