Official crown prosecution service trick..
This has now happened twice on totally different cases..
Different CPS units.. Greater Manchester and Leicester..
They are supposed to provide witnesses statements no later that 7 days before the date of court attendance..
(not send it so it arrives the actual day after you have set off)
What use it that to you or a duty solicitor?
You have no time to read, evaluate, study or respond and object to statements..
Literally disarmed..
And no. The court office won't cancel the case by breech of procedure rules.. And no defence solicitors will pull them on it as then what fee would they get from you if there was then no case to defend? They aren't going to do it for £50
And the CPS want to win.
So... I'm guessing this is now standard procedure.. As they are getting away with it..
